he couldn’t swim. his name was dick. he led a cult at age twenty. he converted to said cult not even two years prior. he drank green juice. he held nuke codes hostage for chocolate. he was almost killed by a big crab. he was a serial killer be age 13. he thought he was the shit. he was probably 5’4”. he beat two people to death with his bear hands. he did crab 9/11. he mentioned a possible past lover one time then never again. he was trans. he was even blond.

the silt verses is a very cool podcast for many reasons but also because your first impression of a character is true, but not the full story. faulkner is a sweet optimistic young man, but he's also a religious fanatic and a liar willing to betray and kill others for his own power and legacy. carpenter is a mean but strong old woman sick of everyone's shit, but she's also a character that deeply and fully cares about others and is allowed moments of weakness. shrue is a spineless bureaucrat that makes others do the dirty work on their behalf, but they're also someone with the anger and bitterness and social isolation needed to be easily radicalized.

gives the characters a really genuine sort of three dimensionality to them, that nothing is actually fully a facade, just an aspect of them that they want others to see. the best lies have a fraction of the truth in them etc etc
